little artistsTeacher: Cathy Harland
Come explore the world of art! Each week we will make connections from literature to arts and crafts. We will build our fine motor skills by cutting, tracing, coloring, and painting. We will also move and wiggle by learning fingerplays and songs that go with our book and art project theme for the day.

Art LabTeacher: Colleen Williams
Does your child LOVE arts & crafts? Art Lab is not simply a drawing or painting class! We will paint, glue, decoupage, and craft our way through a new project every week! At least one of our projects will be a self-portrait that is an beautiful keepsake! This class is all of the fun of arts and crafts with none of the mess for parents!

Cartooning:
|
ages 8-18 |
PERIOD 2
|
In the latest version of cartooning I'd like the students to dive into a more diverse landscape of images. We will start with how a cartoon represents the human form. we will study the concepts behind caricature and how to cartoonize (my made up word!) ourselves. We will then do the same with animals, bedrooms, houses, cars, etc.
drawing fundamentals 2
Teacher: Dennis Edwards
AGES 8-18
|
PERIOD 4
(12:30-1:25PM) |
We have never had a whole class devoted to just drawing in perspective, and it's time I changed that. Knowing how to draw with proper perspective to show distance, size and our place in a scene we are looking at is critical. So this class will be completely devoted to the ways in which perspective is used and the different types of perspective there are. The student will draw subjects using all of them.
World Building through Drawing
Teacher: Dennis Edwards
ages 8-18 |
Period 3
|
This is a subject that I am very interested in, and in the years I have been at LV, I feel many students will be as well. We all love to play through video games, especially the epic ones like Zelda, Elden Ring, Super Mario Bro's, the list can go on. Where does it all begin? It starts with a handful of people with some ideas about a whole new world, filled with characters you've never seen before. In this class I will show the students how to unlock their creativity, and to translate what they see in their minds to paper, and how to make it look EPIC!
WatercolorsTeacher: Dennis Edwards
The students will be learning some basics in watercolor. We'll start with some beginning color theory, and making their own color wheel. Some drawing will be required as we go over creating composition as we plan our paintings. We will be doing many paintings during the course of the semester.

Advanced DrawingTeacher: Dennis Edwards
AGES 13-18PERIOD 5 (1:30-2:25pM)We will be continuing what we have been learning about creating value and shading with the pencil, ballpoint pen and Sharpies to create 3-d images with weight and texture. Students can work on projects independently with my instruction, newer students will have exercises to lead them into projects that will help them put the concepts I teach to practical use. I like to allow each student to draw subject matter that interests them, but I require them to use the techniques we're learning in class to render them.

Photography
Teacher: Madison Thompson
AGES 12-18
|
PERIOD 5 (1:30-2:25PM)
|
Students will learn the principles of design through the creativity and exploration of photography. This course will explore how to take interesting compositional photos by using the fundamentals of art. Teaching students to take a different angle to life and learning how to use what they have at their disposal. Creative Photography is a great way for students to take that first step in the photography world.
