ONLINE REGISTRATION

Beginning Ballet

Instructor: Bonnie Hilton

Students will learn basic ballet exercises, become familiar with ballet foot and arm positions, and work on balance and poise. Students will also be working on a short recital piece to be presented at the end of the semester. Students will need ballet slippers, leotard and tights. No previous dance experience is necessary.

Ages: 4-7

Class size: 4-15

About the teacher: Bonnie Hilton has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Drake University with a minor in dance theatre. She studied dance from age 5 through college and has choreographed dance performances for local productions. She has homeschooled for the last 12 years, and believes that the Word of God is our best resource. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". Psalm 111:10

Cooperative Gym I (FULL - Waiting List Only)

Instructor: Blake Bortnik

Blake Bortnik will focus on building motor skills, coordination, team building and good fun exercise. The kids will keep moving! We will use parachutes, scooters, potato sacks, foam balls, koogle balls, and other equipment to foster safety, fun, team building, and exercise.

Ages 4-7 or skill appropriate

About the teacher:

Blake Bortnik is currently attending COD and working toward a degree in Elementary Education. He enjoys teaching and has worked with homeschooled students individually for many years. He believes that as teachers, we are always learning.

Cooperative Gym II

Instructor: Karen Jarvis

Karen Jarvis will focus on team building skills and encouragement. In a non-competitive manner, students will learn the skills for basketball, softball, volleyball, floor hockey, football, badminton, and dodge ball. They will learn the rules of the games while playing in ways that foster fun and team building. Good sportsmanship will be the main focus.

Karen Jarvis is a professional Christian counselor/home school mom who believes in hands-on learning with enthusiasm and fun. She has taught with The Learning Vine for 5 years.


Competitive Gym

Instructor: Roy Hayley

Mr. Hayley’s gym class gives older students a chance to have fun and compete in a wide variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, soccer, hockey, baseball and dodge ball. Each week’s format provides a good workout through a beginning routine of stretching and exercise, then a long session of competitive play. In the context of each class, Mr. Hayley encourages students to develop a habit of regular physical exercise and to practice their skills.

Roy Hayley is a teacher with experience in coaching competitive sports. He strives to demonstrate skills students can work on to improve their athletic ability.

Karate

Instructor: Dave Pearson

Rev. Dave Pearson ("Karate Dave") teaches karate in a fun and engaging way while incorporating Christian teachings into Karate. This is not like a secular Karate class! He teaches the kids that their best defense is prayer and Bible reading.

All ages

8:00 am - Beginner - Advanced (all belts)

9:00 am - Beginner Only (white, gold and orange belt)

10:00 am - Beginner - Advanced (all belts)

Fee: $120 (Sign up 2 children and the 3rd and on are free.)

About the teacher:

Reverend Dave Pearson “Karate Dave,” of Master's Academy has a 5th degree Black Belt and is very gifted with children. He has appeared on television and on video featuring his unique and godly approach to martial arts. His radio program can be heard on 1530 AM at 12 noon on Fridays.
