Now you can! Over the Semester, your child will look at famous artists and recreate their famous art work. Together, we will look into the inspiration behind their work as well as the artist's life, style and the period of their work. Your child will learn a variety of artistic techniques as well as using different mediums from paint to charcoal. Wish to color like Claude Monet or paint like Picasso? Then join us on this artistic tour of the great masters!

                                                                                      Course Name Artistic Expressions I
                                                                                      Teacher Bauch
                                                                                      Description Artistic Expressions I will provide a mix of drawing instruction with opportunities for expression and creativity. We will begin with a unit on drawing that will use graphite pencils of various values. This unit will emphasize form and shadow. We will follow that with a unit on watercolors, learning various techniques that are unique to this beautiful medium. Our last unit will involve designing a composition using several mediums that will be printed onto a T-shirt.  Karine Bauch, of Masterpiece Art Instruction, will guide each student with step-by-step instructions while drawing along with them at her easel. Previous students will be challenged with these all new projects! Beginners welcome also.

                                                                                      Description Students who have taken ceramics before will continue to develop their hands on ceramic abilities. New students will learn the basic ceramic processes.  All students will become more proficient in using the coil, slab and pinch pot methods.  The students will create 6 NEW projects that they have not done before.  All tools and materials will be provided.  Students will be asked to bring a smock and crock shoes or slip on shoes to be worn in the classroom. Students who are absent for a class or who cannot complete their project in the one period may come in the room during their lunch hour to catch up. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and love tactile art this is the class for you!!  The projects will be a silly coil letters, hanging drape mold bird bath, taco letter holder, finger puppets, forget the glaze pots, high relief sculpture on a tile. If there is time, a group project with all 3 classes involved will be created.

                                                                                      Course Name Artsy Pottery
                                                                                      Teacher Martin
                                                                                      Description Students will be engaged in hands on ceramic arts education with six all NEW projects. All equipment and materials for the ceramics class as well as the firing of the clay pieces will be provided. Student will build their art work using terracotta white stone ware and use simple tools such as plastic forks and knives for cutting and scoring, wooden tools for modeling.  Their work will be bisque fired to cone 06 and glaze fired to cone 04.  Some projects will be finished using acrylic paint, oil pastel or clear gloss spray. Students who are absent for a class or who cannot complete their project in the one period may come in the room during their lunch hour to catch up.  Students will be exposed to the 3 techniques of hand building: slab, coil, and pinch pot giving them a chance to better master skills developing their manual dexterity.  Students will improve their ability to create, manipulate and communicate their ideas in the medium of clay. In the group project they will learn to work as a team.  The projects will be: balloon slab creature, coil clay bells, slab houses, large pinch pot Jonah and the wale, clay frogs, gnome or fairy garden creatures. If there is  time, there will be a group project involving all 3 levels of ceramic classes.

                                                                                      Description Learn relief woodcarving and experience an art form rarely taught to children. Hand woodcarving is an old and respected craft. Mr. Shelly has won international wood carving contests and will share his love for wood carving and expertise with the kids. Students will complete at least one project by the end of the course with potential to create more. We will work with gouge hand tools (no knives). Student safety is the top priority. Wood and tools are supplied. Advanced wood tools can be purchased as skill level increases--to be gauged by the instructor. Kids love creating and will love to learn this art by an expert in the field. Beginner and experienced students work side by side on individual projects.

                                                                                      Course Name Artragious Pottery

                                                                                      Description This ceramics class fills older students need for creative hands on expression, while providing invaluable experience focusing attention and solving complex problems when apply their imaginations and creative ideas in clay. All their projects come out looking nice when they use clay as a means of artistic and personal expression. In this class each student will be introduced to the potters wheel and will have a short time to try out using the wheel. They may be able to produce a small pot to keep on the wheel. Students will create 6 all NEW projects using the basic methods of hand building, slab, coil, pinch pot, subtractive and additive sculpting. All their work will be fired twice, bisque fired and glaze fired. They will decorate their ceramic pieces using under glazes and finished using a low fire clear over glaze. Students who are absent for a class or who cannot complete their project in the one period may come in the room during their lunch hour to catch up.   The projects will be: slump mold dish with a texture made by their own block print clay stamp,  My house sculpture, clay whistle, Rub and buff relief tile abstract, reliefed self portrait. Wheel made pot this hand built additions. If there is  time, there will be a group project involving all 3 levels of ceramic classes.
