Artistic
Adventures
Grades: K4 – K5
2-year cycle
Instructor: Dotty Forberg
Open up a world of creativity for
your child with this fun, expressive class that will use art and craft projects
to introduce and reinforce color and shape recognition, as well as basic
drawing skills. Fine motor skills will be cultivated with colorful projects
that will surround themes such as the seasons, holidays, and Bible stories. This
class will bring out the budding artist in each student while teaching drawing
fundamentals that will lay a foundation for future creativity.
Note: Previous students will be challenged with new projects and concepts this year.
Music and
Movement
Grades: K4 – K5
Instructor: Betsy Olson
Introduce your child to the beauty of music from simple children’s songs to folk music to the classics. Betsy Olson will sing with the children, as well as teach them to use simple instruments such as tambourines, bells, wood blocks, and small xylophones. We’ll get up and move to music from around the world, play games, and act out the stories in the songs we hear. All the while, we’ll give God the glory for the gift of music and learn to worship Him through it. We’ll end each class in a cool down time as we relax to classical music and a story.
The Phonics
of Drawing - Level 1
Grades: 1-2 (ages 6-8 only, no exceptions)
Prerequisites: None (no placement test required)
Instructor: Karine Bauch
Young artists will learn drawing fundamentals from Karine Bauch, owner of Masterpiece Art Instruction, and author of the award winning homeschool curriculum, The Phonics of Drawing. This course will use drawing exercises, quick sketches, and fun projects to set a foundation of drawing skills in the areas of line, shape, shadow, value, perspective, color theory, style, portraiture, and composition. Students will be exposed to the mediums of charcoal, colored pencils, and oil pastels during this year long course. Lessons will be taught at an early elementary level and will build important fine motor skills while encouraging creativity and confidence.
The Phonics
of Drawing - Level 2
Grades: 3-6
Prerequisites: None (no placement test required)
